History of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc.

Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Incorporated was founded on January 5, 1911, on the campus of Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana, by ten visionary young men led by Elder Watson Diggs. Originally incorporated as Kappa Alpha Nu on May 15, 1911, the organization officially became Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Incorporated in 1915.

Founded during a time of significant racial prejudice and social barriers, Kappa Alpha Psi was established to unite college-educated men through the ideals of achievement, leadership, scholarship, and service. The fraternity's fundamental purpose is to inspire and assist its members in achieving excellence in every field of human endeavor.

Today, Kappa Alpha Psi is an international organization with hundreds of undergraduate and alumni chapters throughout the United States and abroad. Through its Guide Right Program, Kappa League, scholarship initiatives, and community service efforts, the fraternity continues its commitment to developing leaders, mentoring youth, and positively impacting communities worldwide.

For more than a century, Kappa Alpha Psi has remained dedicated to its motto: "Achievement in Every Field of Human Endeavor."
